Warming Kitchari: Balance from the inside out

Although it’s easy to enjoy the mild weather and beauty of fall, many of us struggle with our health during this transitional season.

That’s because fall brings a major shift in our external and internal environments. As the temperature drops, the air dries, and the wind blows harder, we become susceptible to Vata imbalances: Dry skin, poor circulation, restlessness and mood swings, reduced appetite, joint pain, fatigue and more.

To balance our Vata, we need food that’s warming and easy to digest. We also need ingredients that protect against the drying effects of fall and early winter weather. Thankfully, Divya’s has the perfect solution: Warming Kitchari

Formulated for Vata season

Warming Kitchari is filled with pungent spices like Thai chile and black pepper to support your digestive fire (agni) as the temperatures drop. Organic basmati rice is front and center to ground you and mitigate the dryness of the season (we leave out the quinoa because of its drying effect—less balancing in fall but perfect for the wet, cool weather of late winter and spring). Kalonji (aka black seed) clears toxicity from the body and cloves warm the body and reduce congestion.

Fast and easy to make

Warming Kitchari includes pre-soaked rice and lentils, which means your meal is ready in only 20 minutes. Just add the mix to boiling water (along with our Cultured Ghee or olive oil) and let it simmer while you take it easy. An extra garnish of ghee or olive oil helps moisturize the body from the inside out, providing even more Vata balance.

Make it your own

Fall is harvest season. Consider adding seasonal veggies like root vegetables, leafy greens, and fresh herbs. Use what you like— kitchari is adaptable! We also love Warming Kitchari as-is, especially when we’re in a rush or under the weather.
